English Time

An email exchange with Annette Tison sheds some light on the question of what time the British and Germans were using during World War Two (WW2):

"In Response To Question #2, I read somewhere (but unfortunately can't find the reference now)that in April 1944 the Brits were on British Double Summer Time hours, sothe time in England was the same as in Germany."

(I have found no additional information on the subject of English or German War Time. - BFB)

Annette wrote in response to additional fuel reports:

"I've found many fuel reports for 392nd BG bombers in the 14th CWfiles at the Archives. Have you looked there for 44th BG fuel reports? You might be able to establish a "gallons/hour" fuel rate for this plane ifyou find enough reports."

(Yes, I did look there and I did obtain an additional fuel report. Thanks.)

Annette completed this line of correspondence with:

"P.S.: I noticed the 2nd name on your "To" list is Stephen Iwasczuk. I'verecently learned that the 392nd had an airman named 2/Lt Michael Iwaszuk, killed in a training accident at Alamogordo on 15 June 43. I know thenames aren't spelled exactly the same, but is there a chance they'rerelated?"

(There is no relation to my knowledge.)
